On May 19th the TopFem network was invited to the headquarter of ABN AMRO for an inhouse event co-organized by TopFem and ABN AMRO. With beautiful surrounding scenery , chairwoman Fien van Rossum welcomed the network and Anne Sofie de Lange, a recruiter from ABN AMRO, provided information about the traineeprogram and ABN AMRO. Next, the floor was given to Ivich Hoffman, one of the boardmembers of ABN AMRO’s Leading Ladies network.
Ivich gave us insight in her journey from commercial trainee towards her current job as Director Commercial Clients Zuid. When she just started her career at ABN AMRO, women in the banking world were seen as subordinates. She told that with enough courage and by letting your environment know what you want, you can achieve whatever you want.
From the start of her career till now, Ivich has always worked at ABN AMRO. One of the advantages of working at such a large company, is that you are able to switch jobs within the company itself. Taken together with the fact that new positions arise and old ones disappear due to the changes on the market, Ivich held another position within the bank almost every two years. She added on a personal note that these fast changes create opportunities to keep on learning, growing and improving your career. This is what makes working at ABN AMRO fun and challenging at the same time.
After the inspiring talk by Ivich, it was time to network. Besides Ivich Hoffman and the recruiters of ABN AMRO, multiple female trainees of ABN AMRO also joined the event. While enjoying some drinks and snacks, work and life experiences were exchanged between the ladies of TopFem and ABN AMRO.
