On Thursday 20 December, TopFem had its final event of 2018. A jolly event with a touch of Christmas, where the participants focused on their New Year’s resolutions and creative ways to tackle the struggles of the past and the coming year. Our Chair Géraldine delivered the opening speech, including a recap of 2018 and plans for 2019. She also shared some of her personal dreams and goals for the future and her own story how TopFem provided her with a trampoline to reach for those stars in the sky.
After these opening words, Marlous (board member International Expansion) guided the participants through several (inter)active excercises in which openness to each other and honesty to oneself was the core element in moving forward. The closing event was a panel of former Mentor Programme participants. They shared their opinion about the benefits, but also the pittfalls when having a mentor. There are do’s and don’ts when it comes to getting the most out of your relationship with a mentor. A preparation beforehand on which aspects you need advice, helps the mentor help you.
The evening started with glühwein and hot chocolate in Park Plaza Victoria, and ended with cheers on a new year full of new opportunities to all in our usual Art ‘Otel. Whether you were able to be there or not, TopFem wishes 2019 may be a year for all women to take that next step towards fulfilling their ambitions.
To close, a word of one of our members who partook in the event:
“The Christmas Edition was a wonderful interactive and interconnecting event in which we got the chance to share personal experiences with each other. In addition, it aimed at helping us find solutions to our daily work-study-personal related issues through a series of questions answered in small groups. And last but not least, after getting to hear the inspiring stories of former members of the Mentor & Network Program we got to interchange our New Years’ resolutions.” – Christina Fylli (participant Leadership Programme 2018-2019)
